Gibson said her ability to connect with the supernatural world caused tension within her religious family, and after working with the police on unsolved cases for a few years, Gibson, who is originally from Pearl River, Miss., took up writing . . .

The New Orleans Advocate interviewed Author Lyn Gibson (http://theadvocate.com/news/livingston/7945077-123/author-sinks-fangs-into-vampire) who lives in Independence Louisiana has been busy promoting her book. She is also a national radio personality and a historian of vampire legend and lore. Following the launch of her new book, Gibson has written on several blogs, interviewed on several talk radio programs and attended the annual “Spooky Empire” horror convention in Orlando, Florida courtesy of her publishing house. She was recently a guest at Mariner’s Inn in Hammond for her official book launch party.

The series, Gibson said, is based in the north shore area of Lake Pontchartrain, and many well-known landmarks are mentioned throughout the books.

Gibson gives some of the credit for the book’s success to her publisher, D.L. Quesinberry, CEO, president and founder of DonnaInk Publications, who she said has been wonderful to work with.

“Ms. Quesinberry believes in me and my series,” Gibson said. “It’s not easy, as a basically unknown writer, to be able to get a publishing contract, but Ms. Quesinberry saw promise in my title and has taken me under her wing.”

Check out the many reviews:

Kim says: “I was unable to put it down. Was very addicting. It was a new take on southern vampires. Can’t wait for the next one.”

Tkenyon said:  “This book is so beautifully written that it draws you into their time and space. I couldn’t put it down. It has intrigue, passion, drama and a unique perspective on the paranormal world of the vampire in our everyday lives . It is definately an adults only book . I can’t wait for the sequel! Don’t miss out on this one!”

Deseret Hatcher raves:   “Lyn Gibson gives it to us with no holds barred in this sensual and did I say sensual erotic vampire tale. The Adrian Trilogy is destined for success. The characters are modern and believable – they use cell phones and iPads, they travel by jet and they have a true lust for flesh.”

Wanda H. had this to say:  “It was nice to get away from the real world and get away to something intriguing and sexy. I would think about it even after I had put it down. The TV and movie series are all watered down and made for teens. I liked To Be His Soulmate better than some of Anne Rice’s books.”

Susie Cambe was quoted as saying: “Lyn Gibson is a mesmerizing writer. As a writer, she successfully takes you where she wants you to journey deep within a dark world, living in the shadows of the moss-strewn Deep South. Her characters develop a strong relationship with the reader and continue from book to book in her trilogy. Gibson’s books are captivating to readers passionate about the horror genre, as well as college students and anyone brave enough to turn the pages of her books.”

What is so great about being a horror writer?

Information Kit Page AElaborating on the query might just cause more of those uncomfortable over the shoulder glances, however the cat is out of the bag . . . Yes, I am the proud owner of a demented mind!  For years I’ve been considered quiet and polite.  A word of advice for those of you that consider those “quiet” ones like myself as reserved and timid; never judge a book by it’s conservative cover.

I have functioned in the professional world, and quite successfully I might add, for all of my adult life.  Those that “knew” me only knew the “me” that was displayed to them;  a professional, clad in a business suit and heels, short and to the point and knowledgeable in every aspect of the corporate world.  And, from this briefcase carrying, business oriented, high profile client consultant hid the twisted mind of a horror writer that was clawing at the seams to escape the  confines of a restricted and politically correct persona.

Having received a publishing contract from DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. on my debut series, “The Adrian Trilogy” was more than enlightening, it was the approval to write the things that I saw, just as I saw them and with permissions to neglect softening content in order to be more socially or politically correct.  The people and the places that DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. and Ms. D.L. Quesinberry have introduced me to in the past few moths have done nothing less than enhance the  approval and acceptance of the world, as seen through my eyes.   I have discovered that there are far more of “my kind” lurking among us!

No longer do I have to hide behind what is socially acceptable, who indeed defined what is acceptable other than society.  In the past few moths I have heard from my readers, from all across the country and yes, around the world!  I have never felt more in the place that I am supposed to be than I do at this point!  Readers from all societies, all cultures and all regions of the planet are raving over my work.  My Work!  Could it be that all of my hidden thoughts and opinions for my entire life have not been so out of line?  Or could it be that my thought patterns and the things that I envision are igniting a new level of what is “socially acceptable?”  In either case, I have never been more grateful for the friends, family and, of course, my publisher than I am at this moment.

Thank you to all of my followers, old and new.  Your support in the wake of my debut release has been noticed, noted and cherished!  Volume II of The Adrian Trilogy will be released later this year with Volume III to follow soon after.  For those of you that love horror, and I do mean hardcore, to the bone, sleep with the light on horror, The Adrian Trilogy progresses as the tale matures.  Worthy of nightmares that will seek you out for years to come, Adrians’ Fury and Volume III (Adrian’s Legacy) will grip the reader long after the book is closed and sat onto a bookshelf to gather dust!

Uncensored, unrated and unbridled! The Adrian Trilogy sets a new standard of horror and gore sprinkled with the demonic inclinations of a long since past shade of evil, an evil that has not walked the earth since God himself commanded the first rays of the sun to touch it’s surface.

A Query to the Vampire Historian

female vamp    Earlier this week I was contacted by a gentleman in India.  He had discovered some past blogs of mine on Vampire legend and lore while researching to prepare for a class.  “I see that you are a teacher of Vampire history” he said.  I had to chuckle, I replied back, “I am a student, there is always more to be learned”.  Nonetheless, he made my day!

The gentleman then proceeded to ask me if I wanted to know more about Vampire legends in India, Well of course I was intrigued!  So, I began to do my homework and am pleased to say that there is more than a little vampire history in India!

Many scholars believe that Vampire legends began in India and spread throughout other cultures along the spice and silk trails.  Several blood sucking creatures with Indian heritage could certainly be classified as vampire.  Tonight I want to share the legend of the Chedipe.

The Chedipe could be classified as a hybrid, a witch-vampire.  Her legend originated around the Godavari River region of India.  They are sometimes associated with the devedasis, girls who were dedicated to a Hindu Temple God, often treated as prostitutes, which would transform into a Chedipe at death.  It was also said, a woman that died an unnatural death, such as in childbirth or by suicide, would often become Chedipe at death.

Legend indicates that the Chedipe is a vulgar woman which rides on the back of a tiger through the moonlight.  The Chedipe then selects a house, magically opens the door and enters naked.  She then casts a spell on the inhabitants, rendering them to a deep sleep as she sucks the blood from between their toes.  Some traditions state that she feeds only on the strongest male in the house, other indicate that she targets only the male that she dislikes.  When her victims awake the next morning, they will feel weak and dizzied but there will be  no recollection of what happened the night before.  Once the Chedipe has targeted her victim, she will return.  She will continue to feed on her victim until he becomes so weak that he will not recover.   If the legends are accurate, It is not all bad for the victim.  Legends state that the Chedipe had sexual pleasure with the sleeping victim, which resulted in suspicions of infidelity the victims’ wife.  This suspicion will eventually result in discord within the house, ending all peace and trust.  This appears to have been the motive of the Chedipe all along as she feeds on the sadness and pain.  An evil girl she was!  It was not beyond the Chedipe to inflict physical wounds onto her victim.  Some say she would sometimes rip the tongue from her victim causing him to drowned in his own blood during his spell induced sleep.

The Chedipe is one of many creatures that I will research, stay tuned for more Vampire Legends from India!

The Trilogy is in the spotlight again!

HAMMOND — Lyn Gibson is no stranger to the supernatural.  As a child, Gibson recalls having dreams  and premonitions about people dying. Spirits, she said, visited her regularly.

Gibson said her ability to connect with the supernatural world caused tension within her religious family, and after working with the police on unsolved cases for a few years, Gibson, who is originally from Pearl River, Miss., took up writing — about vampires.

Gibson has channeled her affinity for the supernatural into a book series called “The Adrian Trilogy.” The deal was signed in February, and the result of the release of the first book, “To Be His Soulmate,” has been phenomenal, Gibson said.

Pre-gallery sales have broken publisher’s records, prompting a busy schedule for 2014. Gibson plans to attend several national horror conventions as a special guest.

Wanda Herrin, of Houston, received Gibson’s book from a friend and is now awaiting the arrival of Gibson’s second book.

“It was nice to get away from the real world and get away to something intriguing and sexy,” Herrin said during a recent interview. “I would think about it even after I had put it down.”

Herrin, 56, who said she enjoys books about vampires, hadn’t read a vampire book since famed author Anne Rice published her iconic books in the 1980s.

“The TV and movie series are all watered down and made for teens,” Herrin said. “I liked it (Gibson’s book) better than some of Anne Rice’s books.”

“Lyn Seal Gibson is a mesmerizing writer,” said Susie Cambre, a journalist and archivist for the Surviving Katrina-Rita Project for the U.S. Library of Congress and the University of Houston. “As a writer, she successfully takes you where she wants you to journey deep within a dark world, living in the shadows of the moss-strewn Deep South. Her characters develop a strong relationship with the reader and continue from book to book in her trilogy.”

Gibson’s books are captivating to readers passionate about the horror genre, as well as college students and anyone brave enough to turn the pages of her books, Cambre said during a recent interview.

“They are truly quite frightening,” she said. “Gibson definitely continues the vampire tales for this generation where longtime horror writer Anne Rice leaves off.”

Gibson, who lives in Independence, has been busy promoting her book. She is also a DonnaInk Publications author, a national radio personality and a historian of vampire legend and lore. Following the launch of her new book, Gibson has written on several blogs, has been interviewed on several talk radio programs and attended the annual “Spooky Empire” horror convention in Orlando, Fla. She also participated in an online book launch at http://www.facebook.com/authorlyngibson and was recently a guest at Mariner’s Inn in Hammond for the official launch party.

The series, Gibson said, is based in the north shore area of Lake Pontchartrain, and many well-known landmarks are mentioned throughout the books.

The Adrian Trilogy is not for teenagers, however, as it does not include sparkling, lovelorn adolescent creatures, said Cambre, a grandmother of 13.

“If you want to find Gibson’s vampires, you’ll have to venture into authentic old museums, ancient scrolls and the real tales our ancestors shared with history,” Cambre said.

“She weaves her dark world with both imagination and the dust of old vaults and historic archives,” she said. “I would definitely recommend her books to anyone wishing to be transported from their day-to-day boredom into a surreal world we imagine behind the old southern columned homes, crypts and broken-down cemeteries.”

Ramblings from a twisted mind…..

1                 What exactly is it that causes one to have a slightly darker view than others? How   does one distinguish between the sincerely twisted and the moderately warped individual?   Such queries could render even the most logical of folks stricken by a  paranoia fueled  frenzy!  I, myself one that embraces the bizarre and gruesome, find humor in and am intrigued by things that others deem to be mentally, spiritually and psycholgically damaging.  My response, “Like sheep, they wear their blinders, content in the world that exists only within their own minds, such cramped confines!”  With that being said, I offer some old adages from a new perspective for you to consider.                       “Never judge a book by it’s cover” A quote that all of us have heard throughout our lives.  Most would take the gem of advice as a suggestion, to assume the best of someone, but there are those of us that see it otherwise.  Those with a darker view see the suggestion having a slightly different twist for example: You must consider everyone to be as equally twisted as you are.                                                                                                                         “It takes one to know one” Once again, another quote familiar to all.  Most would see the quote as a defamatory statement when the warped individual sees it as an invitation:  Stare deeply into ones’ eyes, if he stares back, he is a kindred soul;  If he flinches and looks away, he is the sheep in blinders.
The clothes make the man” suggests that when an average person sees a man in a business suit, he is to assume the man to be a professional businessman.  To that I say HA! and retort with another adage, Never Assume!  For those of you that choose to wear the blinders, I propose that the man in the business suit is likely harboring his  own demented persona.
The fact of the matter is, there are many individuals that possess a darker inclination, a perception that originates from a plane that can not be accessed or comprehended by most.  They are your Doctors and lawyers, your CPA and your pool guy.  They live amongst you, they interact with you and they watch you.

Have you found that you can identify with the alternative definitions of the adages above?  Are you having an awakening?  What will your friends and family think?!  It’s fine, don’t panic!  No one has to know!  Now it is time for you to nurture your inner darkness, begin by experiencing the Adrian Trilogy, Volume I: To be his Soulmate, is now available at www.DonnaInk.org.                     Volume I is the basis and foundation of a thrilling erotic horror trilogy that will introduce and submerse the reader  into a darker realm; A realm where the vampires no longer hide within the shadows, no longer are they absent from society.  A place and time not so different from our own…….
