The Legend of the Christmas Spider

This is one of the most precious gifts that has been given to me, I wanted to share it with you all!  A very dear friend presented this to me at a book signing a year or so ago, she giggled when I wanted to pin him to my jacket.  My friend, Tissie Gorman, knows that I research a lot of legends, she made sure to include this little guy’s legend inside the box that contained him; I now know that he is far too special to be pinned to my jacket!

The Christmas Spider

(Legend originated from Germany and the Ukraine)

Once upon a time, long ago, a gentle mother was busily cleaning the house for the most wonderful day of the year…. The day on which the Christ Child came to bless the house. Not a speck of dust was left. Even the spiders had been banished from their cozy corner in the ceiling to avoid the housewife’s busy cleaning. They finally fled to the farthest corner of the attic.
T’was Christmas eve at last! The tree was decorated and waiting for the children to see it, but the poor spiders were frantic; For they could not see the tree nor be present for the Christ Childs’ visit. The oldest and the wisest of the spiders suggested that perhaps they could peep through the crack in the door to see him. Silently they crept from the attic, down the stairs and across the floor to wait in the crack of the threshold. Suddenly the door opened a wee bit and quickly the spiders scurried into the room. They crept all over the tree, up and down over every branch and twig and saw every one of the pretty things. At last, now satisfied that they had experienced all of the trees beauty.
But Alas! Everywhere they had went, they had left their webs. When the Christ Child came to visit and bless the house he was dismayed. He loved the little spiders, for they were God’s creatures too, but he knew that the mother who had trimmed the tree for the little children would not feel the same.     The Christ Child reached out and touched the webs, turning them into sparkling strands of silver and gold!
Ever since that time tinsel has been hung on trees, and in Germany and the Ukraine, a Christmas Spider is hung amongst the ornaments on every Christmas tree!

Visit DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. for a copy of, "Adrian's Fury" or "To Be His Soulmate!" St. Germain

After a recent one hour on-air interview, I have been contacted by several parties that have either requested more information or have volunteered first hand experiences concerning Jacques d’Saint Germain, The New Orleans Vampire. Since the show I have begun to research him a bit further. This blog is the first of more to come on Saint Germain, I will start here from the beginning:

Comte de St. Germain was said to have been born in 1712, details of his birth and life as a child are obscure, however Germain was said to have been the son of Francis II Rákóczi, the Prince of Transylvania. In contradiction to this date are two statements, one by Rameau, a relative of a French ambassador from Venice who testified that he had known St. Germain in 1710 and that he then had the appearance of a man near his fifties. For Mature readers……..

coverI’m often asked to describe the characteristics of the vampires from “The Adrian Trilogy.”   “Are they like the vampires from Twilight?” I’m asked.  It typically exhausts the limitations of my self control to choke back the snark and the sarcastic response that is on the tip of my primed tongue, yet I manage to maintain my poise.

OK, so let me start off on a positive note.  The Twilight Saga as a series, is a well written and captivating saga.  Let’s face it, the series drew in multitudes of teenage and young adult readers.  That is a fantastic thing, and typically the beginning of my response!  It seems to soften the blow when I ever so delicately express my opinion of the “Twilight Vampires.”

For all of “The Adrian Trilogy” fans out there, I thought I would share my official position on the Cullen Family…………

For starters, no big shocker here folks:  Vampires do not sparkle!  Fairies sparkle! The entire concept is like a hairy guy in  speedos; it’s  just WRONG on so many levels! One moment please, I’m shaking that visual out of my head…

Ok, secondly, Edward Cullen is a 113 year old vampire that has the hots for a teenage mortal female.  BZZZZZZ, what was that? Oh, that was the “WRONG” buzzer.  As if a teenage high school girl could intrigue the mind of of a mature vampire!  An immortal has little desire for such “simpler” things.  So, either the concept is unfathomable or Edward Cullen is what we may label as a “special needs” version of the “Nots”-feratu!

And, my last major peeve, Vampires cannot tolerate the sun for any substantial period of time!  Once again, I reflect back on the hairy dude in speedos.  Way WRONG!

Vampire legends vary through the ages and from continent to continent, however an intolerance to the sun is always a constant.  All Vampires are creatures of the night as since their origination, they have so been cursed to be.

There are no sparkly, teenage, wanna-be, day-walkers within the Adrian Trilogy Series.   The Trilogy is blended with legend and lore; based in modern times with a sprinkle of history here and there.  Each character has their own back story, making it easy for the reader to associate with them throughout the saga.  The Vampires are blood-lusty and malevolent with a modern twist.  The tale combines romance, violence and the paranormal into a gripping story-line, which makes the book hard to put down!

“To Be His Soulmate” (Volume I) and “Adrian’s Fury” (Volume II) and Adrian’s Legacy (Volume III) are available at DonnaInk Publications, L.L.C. (www.donnaink.com or http://www.donnaink.org) for deep pocket discounts (usually $5.00 or more lower than retail).  The series can also be found at other fine Internet retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-in-Print, Google Bookstore and etc.  For autographed copies, inbox me on my official fan page

All volumes of “The Adrian Trilogy” are for readers age 18 and up.  The series contains Mature content, sex and violence, as would be expected from the undead…….

The Characters of “The Adrian Trilogy” Part I

COVERS1

An Introduction to Adrian

Adrian is a busy young business woman in the deep south, a few short miles north of Lake Ponchartrain which borders the city of New Orleans.   Having been raised in one of the most revered societies for vampire legend and other paranormal folklore, she is very aware of the unseen.  You see, Adrian was born gifted.  She, on the other hand, feels as though she has carried a curse with her since birth, when the veil was removed from her face.  As a child, she had dreams and visions.  Some of these dreams foretold of things to come,  one in particular would haunt her relentlessly.

Though locals widely acknowledge the “gift” is, she found, at young age, that there were those who viewed the gifted ones as evil and would shun her away, those included her own family.    Adrian would share the things that she saw with her family only to be scolded and shamed.  Such things were not Godly and should not be discussed, they would tell her.

As she matured, Adrian learned to push the gift as far back into the darkest corners of her mind that she could manage, allowing for her to better focus on a career.   Though she could turn off her uncanny ability at will, she could not stop the dreams; more specifically the same dram that afflicted her since childhood.

In this dream there was a young couple that sat by a mountain stream, though she could not see their faces she was certain that it was always the same two.  The couple would speak to each other.  She could not hear their voices, but she experienced the sensation of their new love in the beginning of the dream; it would not last.  Each time the dream evolved from an overwhelming feeling of happiness to a gut wrenching sense of doom.  The scenery would turn dark and foreboding becoming chaotic as it pulsed before her eyes, and then ended, leaving her with an intense feeling of loss.

Now, as an adult, the dream haunts her more and more frequently.  Her imprisoned “gift” begins to pound away, a warning of something approaching within the near future.  As fate would have it, and it always does!  Adrian runs into the man from her dreams.  They stand face to face, both overcome by the same sense of knowing.  He stands staring into her soul as her restraint of the gift collapses.

and then there was Christian!
